Xi’an Street Food in Winter

27/12/2012

The cold winter temperatures don’t seem to hamper the food vendors one iota. Far from it, their steaming hot food carts draw passers-by like moths to a flame.

Some of my favorite treats are the sweet potatoes and yams the vendors slow-roast over charcoal files inside large metal drums. The smell wafting out of the stoves is irresistible.

While a little on the pricy side (a little less than US$1 for the largest ones), they are well worth the “investment”.

I’ll be adding more photos of other winter street food in the next few days… Stay tuned! 🙂
